I\u2019m sitting on the swim platform of a sailboat, anchored in what should be a calm bay.<br data-start=\"2595\" data-end=\"2598\" \/>The sea is restless, the boat pitching. One of the mooring lines has chafed through \u2014 cleanly, as if sliced with a knife.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2723\" data-end=\"2828\">It looked like a regular rope. Just cheaper. The owner said, \u201cGot a good deal.\u201d<br data-start=\"2802\" data-end=\"2805\" \/>That was the problem.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2830\" data-end=\"3139\">While trying to thread a new line through the mooring eye, the wind tugs at my jacket, the dinghy rocks, and the whole maneuver turns into a fight against rhythm and gravity.<br data-start=\"3004\" data-end=\"3007\" \/>Somehow it works.
