These are questions we ask ourselves, the main question being, what does AI do with my job? Can AI generate designs faster and better than me, with a few years of experience in capital and consumer goods design? Can generative AI create graphics and illustrations that can visualize processes, functions, and procedures? To do this, you should ask the AI what your own workplace looks like. I have added a few facts to my background information (sport preferences, design interests), and this is the result of ChatGPT.
It is mid-November, I don’t sit at my desk in shorts, but yes – that’s true. I like not wearing shoes in the house, a long stay in Asia has left its mark, but taking off shoes and then sitting there with shoes on again? Wooden floor, that’s true too. My bike stays outside. Sailboat pictures – hmm, not really.
As a right-handed person, I like the light from the left. There was a time when people still sketched by hand, which I still like to do. The shadow of your own hand is annoying when the light comes from the side of the dominant hand. But two desk lamps? Nope! I can’t really see capital and consumer goods design on the monitor. How does the AI know that I like sitting on stools without armrests? I find it exciting, not scary. Many things may be made easier by the hyped tool. But none of the have yet managed to create the synaptic short circuit of creativity.
