Not every idea has to become a product.

Some ideas arise from a simple observation.

Heatwaves are becoming more frequent. They last longer. And they are affecting more and more people in their daily lives—on construction sites, in care facilities, in public spaces, or while out and about.

As a designer, in moments like these, I don’t ask myself first what something might look like—but rather why an obvious solution doesn’t actually exist yet.

The problem:

  • People overheat.
  • Cooling helps.
  • The most effective points are located on the back of the neck and along the sides of the neck.
  • Nevertheless, there are hardly any simple mobile solutions.

The idea

The concept study shows a lightweight neckband with replaceable cooling cartridges.

No power.

Seconds instead of minutes.

Intended as a simple aid – not as a medical device.

Why are we publishing the idea?

We made a conscious decision against a patent.

Not every idea has to be exclusive.

If someone picks it up, improves it, and develops a product from it that helps people, it has fulfilled its purpose.

Design ist mehr als Formgebung

Design is more than shaping form.

It starts with the problem.

Good design can simplify processes, provide orientation or – in the best case scenario – help people.

Sometimes, an open idea is enough for that.
